Introduction to GeoServer

Course Objective
GeoServer is an open source software server written in Java that allows users to share and edit geospatial data. Designed for interoperability, it publishes data from any major spatial data source using open standards. GeoServer is a core component of the OpenGeo Suite. This course will introduce attendees to GeoServer. Attendees will learn how to load, publish, and share geospatial data.

- Workspaces and its prominence;
- Creating Workspaces, Stores, and Managing Layers.
Module II: Spatial Data in Geoserver, Services and Styles
- Working With Geoserver II:
- Publishing Spatial Data;
- Loading Spatial Data into GeoServer;
- Managing Layer groups;
- Publishing Spatial Data in Geoserver (Vector and Raster).

- Web Map Service;
- Web Feature Service;
- Web Coverage Service;
- Virtual OWS Services.
- Styles:
- How to configure and work with basic styles;
- Using the existing styles.
